She didn&#8217;t even want to try them at first, but she came around eventually. They are adapted from a recipe in the lovely book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0762445750\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=0762445750&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=healthygreenkitchen-20\">Irish Pantry: Traditional Breads, Preserves, and Goodies to Feed the Ones You Love<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=healthygreenkitchen-20&#038;l=as2&#038;o=1&#038;a=0762445750\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> (I was sent a review copy). I made a few changes to the recipe in the book, one of which was to halve the amount of butter. I imagine you can substitute another type of dried fruit for the dates: the recipe in Irish Pantry features currants, but raisins or dried berries would work, too&#8230;you take your pick. Lemon zest and juice can certainly be used instead of the orange zest and juice, if you like, but I do like the orange date combo, I must say.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
